Equipment

  • oven
  • baking sheet
  • aluminum foil
  • Basting brush
  • knife

Ingredients

  • 2 racks baby back ribs
  • kosher salt to taste
  • freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better tenderness.
  • Season both sides of the ribs with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  • Place the ribs on a baking sheet, meaty side up, and cover tightly with aluminum foil.
  • Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours until the ribs are tender.
  • Remove the foil and brush the ribs generously with BBQ sauce.
  • Return the ribs to the oven uncovered and bake for an additional 30 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
  • Let the ribs rest for a few minutes, then cut into portions and serve with extra BBQ sauce.

Notes

For best results, remove the membrane before seasoning. You can marinate the ribs overnight for deeper flavor. Let the ribs rest at least 10 minutes before slicing to retain juices. Adjust spice levels and BBQ sauce to taste. Parchment paper can be used if foil is unavailable.
