Crockpot Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

  • Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl.
  • Form the mixture into oval-shaped patties.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet and lightly brown the patties on both sides.
  • Layer sliced onions and mushrooms in the bottom of the crockpot.
  • Place the browned patties on top of the vegetables.
  • Pour beef broth over everything.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours.
  • Mix cornstarch and water until smooth.
  • Stir the mixture into the crockpot and cook until the gravy thickens.

Notes

Browning the patties adds extra flavor and helps them hold together.
Mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles pair well with this dish.
Leftovers reheat well and store easily for meal prep.
