Smoked sausage
Any kind you like (beef, turkey, pork, chicken).

Can substitute with maple syrup.
4
cloves
Garlic, minced
Fresh garlic is recommended.
1/4

Soy sauce
Low sodium is fine.
1
cup
Broth (chicken or vegetable)
Water can be used, but broth tastes better.
1
tbsp
Vinegar or lemon juice
For balancing sweetness.
Optional Additions
Vegetables (e.g., peas, bell peppers, spinach)
Can be added directly into the skillet.
2
tbsp
Green onions or sesame seeds
For garnish.
Instructions
Preparation
Slice the smoked sausage into coins.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat with a small amount of oil.
Add the sausage and cook until golden brown on both sides.
Building the Sauce
Push the sausage to the sides and add minced garlic in the center.
Stir the garlic for about 20 seconds to prevent burning.
Add honey, soy sauce, and a splash of vinegar or lemon juice, stirring until bubbly.
Cooking the Rice
Stir in the uncooked rice until it is well coated in the sauce.
Pour in the broth, stir once, and bring to a gentle simmer.
Cover with a lid, reduce heat to low, and cook for 15 to 18 minutes until the rice is tender.
Finishing Touches
Let it sit covered for 5 minutes after turning off the heat.
Fluff the rice with a fork and taste. Adjust seasoning with soy sauce for salt or honey for sweetness as desired.
Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if available.
