  • 2 to 3 cups pecan halves Use fresh pecans for best results.
  • 1 small pinch salt Enhances flavor, even in sweet versions.
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey Optional, for sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla Optional, for flavor.
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons neutral oil Optional, only if needed for blending.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Spread the pecan halves on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking the pan once.
  • Let the toasted pecans cool for a few minutes.
  • Blend the pecans in a food processor or strong blender until it reaches your desired consistency, scraping down the sides as needed.
  • If desired, add salt, sweetener, vanilla, and oil, blending until combined.

Notes

Be patient while blending; the pecans will go through various stages. Store in a clean jar, refrigerating to keep fresh. Pecan butter can be used in many recipes or enjoyed on its own.
