Ingredients

  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 0.25 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 0.5 cup chopped nuts or shredded coconut (optional)

Instructions

  • Line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar, and milk over medium heat until smooth.
  • Whisk in cocoa powder and vanilla extract until glossy.
  • Remove from heat and stir in oats and salt until fully coated.
  • Press mixture into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until firm.
  • Cut into squares and serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

• You can swap butter for coconut oil or almond butter for a dairy-free version.
• To make it richer, drizzle melted dark chocolate on top before chilling.
• Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for 2 months.
