Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (lean preferred)
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce (or tamari)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (or honey)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp fresh grated ginger (optional)
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Cooked white or brown rice, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  • Stir in garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  • Spoon beef mixture over bowls of rice. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
To add more veggies, stir in shredded carrots or zucchini.
Make it spicy by adding sriracha or extra chili flakes.
Great for meal prep – stores well in fridge or freezer.
