Instructions
Cooking Steps
Boil your pasta in salted water. Save about 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
Brown the sausage in a large skillet with a little olive oil. Break it into bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
In the same skillet, add sliced onion and peppers. Cook until softened. Add garlic for the last 30 seconds.
Pour in the wine and let it bubble for about 1 to 2 minutes.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add the sausage back in and let simmer for 8 to 10 minutes.
Toss in the drained pasta. Add a splash of reserved pasta water if the sauce looks too thick. Finish with basil and a shower of parmesan.
Optional: Add a small knob of butter at the end for a richer sauce.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days. Reheat with a splash of water.
