Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 fillets Salmon fillets, about 5 to 6 ounces each, skin on or skinless Choose fillets about 1 to 1.5 inches thick for moisture.
  • to taste Salt and black pepper For seasoning.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil or melted butter Just a little for the pan.

Honey Mustard Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons Honey For sweetness and sticky glaze.
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard For smooth tang; yellow mustard works in a pinch.
  • 1 clove Garlic, grated or very finely minced For flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce For savory balance; or a pinch of salt.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice Or a splash of apple cider vinegar to brighten the flavor.

Garnishes (Optional)

  • to taste Lemon wedges For serving.
  • to taste Chopped parsley For garnish.
  • a pinch Chili flakes For added spice.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Pat the salmon dry with paper towels. This helps it brown instead of steaming. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a little olive oil. Place the salmon in the pan (skin side down if it has skin). Cook about 4 minutes without messing with it.
  • Flip the salmon and cook for 2 to 3 minutes more. Lower the heat a bit if your pan runs hot.
  • Spoon the honey mustard sauce over the top and let it bubble for 1 to 2 minutes until it looks glossy and slightly thickened.
  • Take it off the heat and rest it for a minute to enhance tenderness.

Notes

For a more hands-off approach, use the oven method by baking the salmon at 400°F for 10-12 minutes instead. Pair with simple sides like rice or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
