Ingredients
1lbground beef
1small onion, diced (optional)
2clovesgarlic, minced
1tsppaprika
1tspcumin
1tspdried oregano
salt and black pepper to taste
1tbsptomato paste or tomato sauce
4pita breads
shredded lettuce
diced tomatoes
cucumber, chopped
feta cheese or shredded cheese
Greek yogurt sauce or preferred sauce
Instructions
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart.
Add diced onion and cook until softened, then stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Stir in paprika, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.
Add tomato paste and a splash of water, mixing to coat the beef evenly.
Warm pita bread in a pan, oven, or microwave until soft.
Slice pita open and fill with beef mixture and desired toppings.
Add sauce and serve immediately.
Notes
Warm pita before filling to prevent tearing. Do not overcook beef to keep it juicy. Add toppings just before serving to avoid sogginess.
