Equipment

  • Box grater
  • mixing bowl
  • Lemon juicer (optional)
  • spatula or spoon
  • measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 3–4 medium carrots, peeled and grated
  • 2 crisp apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Gala), grated or julienned
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt (or use 1–2 tbsp sunflower oil for non-dairy version)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp sugar or honey (optional, to taste)
  • 2 tbsp raisins or sunflower seeds (optional)
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon or cumin (optional)

Instructions

  • Peel and grate the carrots using the fine side of a box grater. Transfer to a mixing bowl.
  • Grate or julienne the apples. Add lemon juice immediately to prevent browning. Add to the bowl.
  • Add yogurt or sunflower oil, salt, and sugar or honey (if using). Toss gently to combine.
  • Fold in any optional ingredients like raisins, seeds, or spices. Mix gently.
  • Cover and chill for 30 minutes before serving to let flavors meld.

Notes

Use a box grater for best texture. For creamier versions, use plain yogurt; for lighter styles, sunflower oil. Optional add-ins: raisins, sunflower seeds, or a pinch of cinnamon for depth. Let chill for 30+ minutes to allow flavors to meld.
