Ingredients

  • 1 lb large uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
  • 1 small shallot, minced
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine or chicken stock
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small lemon, zested and juiced
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • cooked pasta, rice, or bread for serving

Instructions

  • Pat the shrimp dry and season evenly with salt, black pepper, and cayenne.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat and sauté the shallots until softened.
  • Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for about 1 minute per side.
  • Add the garlic and wine or stock, cooking for 2–3 minutes until the sauce reduces by half.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the remaining butter, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
  • Sprinkle with herbs and parsley, toss gently to coat, and serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat gently with a splash of broth or stock to keep the shrimp tender. Add a squeeze of fresh lemon before serving to brighten the flavors.
