Ingredients

  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Melt the chocolate and butter together until smooth.
  • Beat sugars and eggs until light and frothy.
  • Mix in melted chocolate and vanilla.
  • Stir in flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder gently.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes.
  • Scoop dough onto lined baking sheets.
  • Bake at 350°F for 8–10 minutes until cracked and shiny.
  • Cool completely on baking sheets.

Notes

Beat eggs thoroughly for shiny tops.
Use room-temperature eggs for best texture.
Do not skip chilling the dough.
Bake until just set for fudgy centers.
