Ingredients
8jalapeños, finely chopped and deseeded
8ozcream cheese, softened
1cupshredded cheddar or pepper jack cheese
1/2cupbreadcrumbs
1/2cupflour
2eggs
1/2tspgarlic powder
1/2tsponion powder
salt and pepper to taste
oil for frying
Instructions
In a bowl, mix cream cheese, shredded cheese, chopped jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes until firm.
Scoop and roll the mixture into small bite-sized balls.
Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
Coat each ball in flour, dip in egg, then coat with breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumbs for a double coating.
Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
Fry bites in small batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Chill filling before breading to prevent leaks. Double coat for extra crunch. Fry in small batches to maintain oil temperature. Air fryer can be used as a lighter alternative. Avoid watery ingredients to keep filling firm.
