Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks
  • ½ cup milk chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  • Whisk together dry ingredients in a bowl.
  • In another bowl, combine melted butter and sugars until smooth.
  • Add egg, yolk, and vanilla; mix well.
  • Gradually fold in dry mixture until dough forms.
  • Stir in chocolate chunks and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Scoop tall dough balls onto baking sheet.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes.
  • Cool for 5 minutes, then frost while slightly warm.
  • Let icing set before serving.

Notes

Chill dough before baking for thicker cookies. Use chopped chocolate bars for gooey pockets. Sprinkle flaky sea salt to balance sweetness.
