Ingredients
1cupunsalted butter, softened
1cupbrown sugar, packed
1/2cupgranulated sugar
2largeeggs
2teaspoonsvanilla extract
2 1/4cupsall-purpose flour
1/2teaspoonbaking soda
1/2teaspoonsalt
1cupchocolate chips
1/4cupfestive sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang.
In a large bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until dough forms.
Fold in chocolate chips and sprinkles, if using.
Spread dough evenly into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 22–25 minutes or until edges are golden and center is slightly soft.
Cool completely in pan. Then lift out and slice into squares.
Notes
For a festive twist, top with crushed peppermint or drizzle melted white chocolate before serving. To make ahead, freeze the sliced bars in layers with parchment paper. Bars stay soft for days when stored in an airtight container.
